Supporting Scotland
In Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, where child poverty rates reach
21.8%, over 4% higher than the national average, Stop Hunger
is helping to plug the gap through a strategic partnership
with Abernecessities.
In 2024, we awarded a £10,000 grant to support their
Bright Future Project, which is improving school attendance,
attainment, and behavioural outcomes for children across two
pilot schools: Tullos Primary and North昀椀eld Academy. The project
provides 660 children with access to food, clothing, toiletries, cleaning
products, household essentials, and school supplies—ensuring they arrive
at school nourished, clean, and ready to learn.
But our support goes beyond funding. Sodexo volunteers in Aberdeen have
donated refurbished bikes—26 to North昀椀eld Academy, 11 to Aberdeen Lads
Club, and 5 to CFINE Foodbank—alongside 100 sleep pods to Aberdeen
Cyrenians. Through skills-based volunteering, our Energy & Resources team
has also supported initiatives like anonymous toiletry supplies and a bike
library maintained by prisoners at Addiewell prison.
Together, these e昀昀orts re昀氀ect our commitment to breaking the cycle of
poverty and empowering children to thrive in their educational environments.
Thanks to Sodexo volunteers through Stop Hunger, we’ve
had consistent support sorting stock in our Aberdeen
hub—help that’s made a real di昀昀erence to our day-to-day
operations.”
